Back in April, the Board of the Marlborough Curling Club voted to change its name to the Colonial Curling Association. In June, the name change was made official by a unanimous vote of our members at our Annual Meeting.
After beginning its journey in the City of Marlborough, then moving to Westborough, the name no longer fit the club and its mission. While we considered other options, Colonial seemed like the natural choice for our club.
With a new name, comes a new home (or two) for CCA. Colonial Curling is proud to call the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center its home. We will now be curling on Friday and Sunday Nights in Worcester during the Fall, Winter, and Spring, and on Friday Nights during the Summer. In addition to our regular bonspiel in August which was unfortunately postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will be hosting the PRIDEspiel in in June.
We are also in talks to bring curling to another facility in the Metrowest area this Fall as well. We hope to make this announcement real soon.
In May of 2021, our club has been selected to host the 2021 US Arena Curling National Championships. We are looking forward to co-hosting this event with the Worcester Ice Center and Edge Sports Group, and Discover Central MA.
