Code of Conduct Policy
The Code of Conduct has been developed to ensure that the Club is a safe, friendly and respectful place for members, visitors and ice center staff to engage in and support the sport of curling in the spirit of good will, fun, and friendly competition. This Code of Conduct specifically addresses unacceptable behavior and is an adjunct to the rules and by-laws of the Club.
Code of Conduct Expectations
- The Club and facilities are free of any form of harassing behavior. Any physical, verbal or sexual harassment will not be tolerated.
- The Club is a family friendly environment. Bullying, obscenities, and/or aggressive, inappropriate or offensive behavior shall not be tolerated.
- Discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status shall not be tolerated at the Club or any Club sponsored activity or event.
- Members shall treat other members, guests, ice center staff, and visitors fairly, equally and with respect and courtesy.
- Members shall behave responsibly and refrain from acting in a manner which may damage or jeopardize the reputation or name of the Club.
- Members are encouraged to report any behavior not falling within the Code of Conduct and may expect their communication to be held in the strictest confidence.
Reporting a Breach
- The board takes the Code of Conduct very seriously. Any breach should be reported to a board member. A list of board members can be found on Colonial Curling's non-profit page.
- A breach can also be reported by sending an email to secretary@colonialcurling.com.
Breaches of the Code of Conduct
- The consequences for breach of the Code are at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
- Any behavior deemed to be a violation of the Code may result in members and/or guests being immediately removed from an event or the facility.
- Any inappropriate behavior or the report of any incident shall be fully investigated by the Board of Directors. Upon completion of any investigation, the Board shall vote upon what action, if any, shall be taken.
- All investigations and discussions thereof are held by the Board in strictest confidence.
Policy Modifications
Recognizing that the Code will not cover every possible circumstance, the Code is broadly stated and thus, the Club, via the Board of Directors, may modify the Code as necessary at any time.
Administering the Code
The Club's Board of Directors have responsibility for administering the Code in an independent, objective, and consistent manner.
Fee Reimbursement Policy
If a member of Colonial Curling (the "Club") is unable to continue to curl after having signed up and paid for a session, then, upon written request, the Club will provide a credit (but not a refund) to that member for an amount equal to the pro-rated amount of the remaining balance of the session. That credit will be applicable for a future session. Such credits shall expire if not used within one year of the credited session. Acceptable reasons for such discontinuation and credit shall be at the discretion of the Board, but shall include an injury preventing curling, a death of a close family member or any other reason deemed appropriate by the Board.
